  • Result: Omigawa winner by 1st round TKO. Omigawa rises to 13. Phan drops to 15.
  • Oh my. Omigawa absolutley beasted Phan. Dominating win. If anyone thought his win over L.C. Davis was a fluke, they better recognize Omigawa is for real. Ignore his record. It’s very misleading.

Marlon Sandro [16] vs. Nick Denis

  • MMA Records: Sandro (13-0); Denis (7-0)

UFC 98 – May 23

HVY

Patrick Barry [36] vs. Tim Hague

  • MMA Records: Barry (4-0); Hague (9-1)
  • UFC Records: Barry (1-0); Hague (0-0)
  • Result: Hague winner by 1st round submission (guillotine). Hague debuts at 36. Barry drops to 37.

205

Rashad Evans [1] vs. Lyoto Machida [3]

  • MMA Records: Evans (13-0-1); Machida (14-0)
  • UFC Records: Evans (8-0-1); Machida (6-0)

Krzysztof Soszynski [34] vs. Andre Gusmao [42]

  • MMA Records: Soszynski (17-8-1); Gusmao (5-1)
  • UFC Records: Soszynski (2-0); Gusmao (0-1)

170

Matt Hughes [5] vs. Matt Serra [7]

  • MMA Records: Hughes (42-7); Serra (9-5)
  • UFC Records: Hughes (15-5); Serra (6-5)
  • Result: Hughes winner by unanimous decision. Hughes stays at 5. Serra drops to 10.
  • Anticlimactic end to the blood-fued. Serra was amusing with his antics but Hughes sneaked by with his lay-and-pray.

  • UFC Records: Larson (2-1); Pyle (0-0)

  • MMA Records: Bradley (13-6); Nover (5-1-1)
  • UFC Records: Bradley (0-2); Nover (0-1)
  • Result: Bradley winner by 1st round TKO. Bradley rises to 74. Nover drops to 85.
  • Tough stoppage by Yves Lavigne but Bradley did rock him with a brutal strike on the ground. A rematch is immanent.

George Roop vs. Dave Kaplan

  • MMA Records: Roop (8-4); Kaplan (2-2)
  • UFC Records: Roop (0-1); Kaplan (0-0)
  • Result: Roop winner by split decision.
  • Both fighters have a long, long way to go to become contenders.

DREAM 9 – May 26

HVY

Gegard Mousasi [NR] vs. Mark Hunt

  • MMA Records: Mousasi (24-2-1); Hunt (5-5)
  • Result: Mousasi winner by 1st round submission (straight armbar).

Sokoudjou [NR] vs. Jan Nortje

  • MMA Records: Sokoudjou (5-4); Nortje (2-5)

  • MMA Records: Souza (10-2); Miller (22-6)
  • Result: No Contest (illegal kick by Miller caused a cut)

135

Kid Yamamoto [NR] vs. Joe Warren [13]

  • MMA Records: Yamamoto (17-1); Warren (1-0)
